welcome to Anagram, the newest and really cool game on IRC ( internet relay chat ). anagram consist of two bots PiWi ( the bot that allows you to play games) and WiPi ( the bot that keeps the scores and everything in the database as it seems) which are both created by Syrinx. this home page setup for the players and newbies to anagram. There's also a french version of this game but i have not idea how to play it because i do not read french well. you can check out Syrinx's home Page or PiWi's home Page, both are totally in french..So if you like me and you want to continue reading english preceed on and enjoy the information which might help you improve upon your game or just learn more..

What is anagram ??

well anagram is basically just an unscrabbler games it very similar to playing scrabble the board game where you make words from letters. in this case you have 10 letters instead of 7 and a whole lot of people can play at once just matter how fast you query the bot. the object of the game is to find the best legamite word in PiWi's dictionary. the player with the best word at the end of the round or game gets that amount of points according the word minus penality and plus bonus if there is any.

What are the rules and how do i play ??

the most important part is to tell the bot you ready and want to play by typing the word play. when the game startsPiWi will present you a line of 10 letters and gives you the number of words that are in his dictionary. along with the number of best word that the bot found and if you find that same word you will get bonus points for it. to play just create word(s) that is better then other players by joining or putting together the letters the PiWigives in any order you want as long as you don't reuse the letters else you will get it will "cost" you. to get your answer to register you must place a " >" in front of the word you want.

out of 60 words, 2 of 7 letters

the bot is saying out of these 10 letters. there are a total of 60 words it can find from a 1 letter word to a 7 letter word. actually 2 seven letter words and if you find that you get bonus points determined by PiWi. valid words are : a, at, ate, gate, agate, legate, legatee .. of course you want to fine the best word.. to place your answer just type a > in front of your word. so if your word is legate then you would type >legate and then hit the return or enter key. then PiWi will tell you if the word is correct or incorrect or whether it is better or it not and if it takes points off or if you get bonus. all of which is discuss down below. so read on if you want to know the nitty gritty details ehehee :-) .

Here's a few ways that you can be penalized:

Except the first word, all proposition "cost" 2 points.
If your word is correct, but "not better", you lost the difference of letters.
If there are missing letters, you lost 2 points.
If the word is "better" then your previous word or someone else previous word you will be you 2 points also.

Note: The best bet is to find the best word you can so you don't get many points taken away from you with all the guessing. only answer if you find a better word or the bonus word to beat someone else and get the point.

Here's how bonus points works :

if you find the best word meaning the word thePiwi finds, a bonus is given to you.
bonus is determine by time of respond and number of player(s). .
basicly you get the points you PiWi gives you. :-) ....

How does scoring works ??

the score is separated into three parts. you first must be the person who fine the best word out of all the player(s) but doesn't necessary have to be the bonus word. You're given the number value of the word that you give so if you put a 7 letter word and it is correct and you win, you will earn 7 points which is added to your total for the week and to the overall total. That's if you don't get any points taken away from you during the game. the bot will subtract that. (Note: you can lose points even if you don't win the round if you made one of those mistakes mentioned above.) if you find the bonus word it automatic stop reading other responses and add bonus points score and give you the total and round is over. so it would look something like this below.

What are the basic bot commands i need to know ??

1. play
this is the most important command it starts the game for you and for anyone else so you need to tell the bot your to play by typing that on the screen..

2. scores or scores 'nick' or scores 'number'
both version of the scores gives different results...If you type scores, then you will get everything..That includes the top scorers/players of all time and of the week in a grid shape format..and then you get your score for the grand total and your score for the week..The number in parthanese tells you what place you are in out of all the people who play..If you type scores 'nick' (where nick is the name of the person you want in that place without the single quotes), then you will get one line tell you the scores of the person for the grand total, how they stand with everyone in the database in parthanese, the score for the week and how they stand for against the active people who played this week..If you do scores 'number' where number in quotes is the number of classement. It's says like if you wanna see who's 1st on the list you would do scores 1. or you can do scores -1 for the last person. the bot WiPi will notify you by way of message..

3. stats 'nick'
the last command you need is this one it tells you the statistics of your games and how you did...It's all personal just to see how well your doing..I always try to improve mine..

Who is in the lead ??

the leader board is always changing but you can be sure that either mjjj or daina or me is leading and the other two are just right behind heehhe.. we addicted hehehe..We should join aa ( Anagram's anonymous ) hehehe ;-) ... Let's take a look at who's in the lead as of Fri oct 6 01:29:56 cdt 1995. Let's do the scores command. Here's the result ..

daina is way in the lead because mjjj has stopped playing and so have i heheehe..I guessed we got something better and more important things to do like school and go to work hehehehehe. speaking of which everyone is catching up to me and passing mjjj up. oh well nothing last forever just hope to stay in 2nd. hehe. the scores changes often so this is already outdated ehehe but can't help it..Just keep playing and trying and maybe one day you'll be the person to catch..
