60. long is the night for the sleepless, long is the league for the weary one, samsara's way is long for fools who know not the dhamma True.
60. Ðêm dài cho kë thÑc,
Ðß¶ng dài cho kë m®t,
Luân h°i dài, kë ngu,
Không biªt ch½n di®u pháp.
61. if a wayfarer fails to find one better or equal, steadfast he should fare alone for a fool's no fellowship.
61. Tìm không ðßþc bÕn ðß¶ng,
H½n mình hay b¢ng mình,
Thà quyªt s¯ng mµt mình,
Không làm bÕn kë ngu.
62. "Sons have I, wealth have I", thus the fool is fretful. he himself is not his own, how then are sons, how wealth?
62. "Con tôi, tài sän tôi",
Ngß¶i ngu sanh ßu não,
Tñ ta, ta không có,
Con ðâu, tài sän ðâu?.
63. conceiving so his foolishness the fool is thereby wise, while "fool" is called that fool conceited that he's wise.
63. Ngß¶i ngu nghî mình ngu,
Nh¶ v§y thành có trí.
Ngß¶i ngu tß·ng có trí,
Th§t xÑng g÷i chí ngu.
64. though all through life the fool might wait upon the wise, no more dhamma can he sense than spoon the taste of soup.
64. Ngß¶i ngu, d¥u tr÷n ð¶i,
Thân c§n ngß¶i có trí,
Không biªt ðßþc Chánh pháp,
Nhß mu²ng v¾i v¸ canh.
65. though briefly one intelligent might wait upon the wise, quickly dhamma he can sense as tongue the taste of soup.
65. Ngß¶i trí, dù mµt kh¡c,
Thân c§n ngß¶i có trí,
Biªt ngay chân di®u pháp,
Nhß lßÞi v¾i v¸ canh.
66. fools of feeble wisdom fare enemies to themselves, making evil kamma which is of bitter fruit.
66. Ngß¶i ngu si thiªu trí,
Tñ ngã thành kë thù.
Làm các nghi®p không thi®n,
Phäi ch¸u quä ð¡ng cay.
67. that kamma's not well-made from which there is remorse, of which one senses the result with weeping and a tear-stained face.
67. Nghi®p làm không chánh thi®n,
Làm r°i sanh ån nån,
M£t nhu¯m l®, khóc than,
Lãnh ch¸u quä d¸ thøc.
68. but well-made is that kamma which done brings no remorse, of which one senses the result with glad mind and with joy.
68. Và nghi®p làm chánh thi®n,
Làm r°i không ån nån,
Hoan hÖ, ý ð©p lòng,
Hß·ng th÷ quä d¸ thøc.
69. when evil kamma's immature the fool thinks it is honeyed, but when the evil has matured then to the fool comes dukkha.
69. Ngß¶i ngu nghî là ng÷t,
Khi ác chßa chín mu°i;
Ác nghi®p chín mu°i r°i,
Ngß¶i ngu ch¸u kh± ðau.
70. month after month with blady-grass tip the fool may take his food; he's not worth the slightest bit of one who dhamma knows.
70. Tháng tháng v¾i ng÷n cö,
Ngß¶i ngu có ån u¯ng [1]
Không b¢ng ph¥n mß¶i sáu,
Ngß¶i hi¬u pháp hæu vi.
71. as milk, is evil kamma done, so slowly does it sour. smouldering does it follow the fool like fire with ashes covered.
71. Nghi®p ác ðã ðßþc làm,
Nhß sæa, không ðông ngay,
Cháy ng¥m theo kë ngu,
Nhß lØa tro che ð§y.
72. truly to his detriment skill is born to the fool; ruined is his better nature and scattered are his wits.
72. Tñ nó ch¸u b¤t hÕnh,
Khi danh ðªn kë ngu.
V§n may b¸ t±n hÕi,
Ð¥u nó b¸ nát tan.
73. for position a fool may wish: among the bhikkhus precedence, in monasteries authority, from other families honours.
73. ¿a danh không tß½ng xÑng,
Mu¯n ng°i trß¾c tÖ kheo,
ßa quy«n tÕi t¸nh xá,
Mu¯n m÷i ngß¶i l kính.
74. both monks and laymen, let them think "This was done by me, whatever the works, both great and small, let them depend on me". such the intention of a fool, swollen his greed and conceit.
74. "Mong cä hai tång, tøc,
Nghî r¢ng (chính ta làm).
Trong m÷i vi®c l¾n nhö,
Phäi theo m®nh l®nh ta"
Ngß¶i ngu nghî nhß v§y
Døc và mÕn tång trß·ng.
75. one is the way to worldly gain, another to nibbana goes. clearly comprehending this the bhikkhu, Buddha's follower should wallow not in proffered gifts, surrendering instead to solitude.
75. Khác thay duyên thª lþi,
Khác thay ðß¶ng Niªt Bàn.
TÖ kheo, ð® tØ Ph§t,
Hãy nhß v§y th¡ng tri.
