in battle one may conquer,
yet should one conquer just oneself
one is the greatest conqueror.

that one who's tamed of self .

105. neither deva nor minstrel divine,
nor mara together with Brahma,
can overthrow the victory
of such a one as this.

H½n tråm nåm tª tñ.
107. one might tend for a hundred years
the forest's sacred fire,
but if for only a moment one
might honour the self-developed,
such honour then were better by far
than a century of sacrifice.
