in one living carelessly.
Like this, one leaps from life to life
as ape in the forest seeking fruit.
334. Ngß(c)i s¯ng ð(c)i phóng d§t,
Ái tång nhß dây leo.
Nhäy ð(c)i này ð(c)i khác,
Nhß vß(r)n tham quä r×ng.
335. whomsoever in this world
this wretched clinging craving routs
for such a one do sorrows grow
as grass well-soaked with rain.
335. ai s¯ng trong ð(c)i này,
B¸ ái døc buµc ràng
S¥u kh± s¨ tång trß·ng,
Nhß cö bi g£p mßa.
336. but whoever in this world
routs wretched craving hard to quell,
from such a one do sorrows fall
like water drops from lotus leaf.

S¥u r½i khöi ngß(c)i ¤y
Nhß gi÷t nß¾c lá sen.
337. prosperity to you, i say,
to all assembled here!
When needing grass's fragrant root
so craving extirpate.
Don't let mara break you again,
again as a torrent a reed!
337. Ðây ði«u lành ta dÕy,
Các ngß(c)i tø h÷p ðây,
Hãy nh± t§n g¯c ái
Nhß nh± g¯c cö Bi.
Ch¾ ð¬ ma phá hoÕi,
Nhß giòng nß¾c cö lau.
338. as tree though felled shoots up again
it its roots are safe and firm
so this dukkha grows again
while latent craving's unremoved.
338. Nhß cây b¸ ch£t ð¯n,
G¯c chßa hÕi vçn b«n
Ái tùy miên chßa nh±,
Kh± này vçn sanh hoài.
339. for whom the six and thirty streams
so forceful flow to seemings sweet
floods of thought that spring from lust
sweep off such wrong viewholder.

Trôi ngß(c)i ðªn khä ái.

340. everywhere these streams are swirling,
up-bursting creepers rooted firm.
Seeing the craving-creeper there
with wisdom cut its root!
340. Dòng ái døc chäy kh¡p,
Nhß giây leo m÷c tràn,
Th¤y giây leo v×a sanh,
V¾i tu®, hãy ðoÕn g¯c.
341. to beings there are pleasures streaming
sticky with desire,
steeped in comfort, happiness seeking,
such ones do come to birth, decay.

¿a thích các hÖ lÕc.
Tuy mong c¥u an lÕc,
Chúng vçn phäi sanh già.
342. who follow craving are assailed,
they tremble as the hare ensnared,
held fast by fetter and by bonds
so long they come to dukkha again.
342. Ngß(c)i b¸ ái buµc ràng,
Vùng vçy và hoäng s(r),
Nhß thö b¸ sa lß¾i.
Chúng sanh ái trói buµc,
Ch¸u kh± ðau dài dài.
343. who follow craving are assailed,
they tremble as the hare ensnared,
so let a bhikkhu craving quell
whose aim is passionlessness.
343. Ngß(c)i b¸ ái buµc ràng,
Vùng vçy và hoäng s(r),
Nhß thö b¸ sa lß¾i.
Do v§y v¸ tÖ kheo,
Mong c¥u mình ly tham
Nên nhiªp phøc ái døc.
344. who without woodness inclines to the wood.
free in the wood to woodness returns.
Do now regard that person well
who free returns to fetter.

Thoát r×ng chÕy theo r×ng.

Ðß(r)c thoát khöi buµc ràng.

345. neither of iron nor wood nor hemp
is bond so strong, proclaim the wise,
as passion's yearn for sons, for wives,
for gems and ornaments.

Ngß(c)i trí xem chßa b«n.
Tham châu báu, trang sÑc
Tham v÷ng v(r) và con.
346. that bond is strong, proclaim the wise,
down-dragging, pliable, hard to loose.
This passion severed, they wander forth
forsaking sensual pleasures.

Trói buµc này th§t b«n.
Trì kéo xu¯ng, lún xu¯ng,
Nhßng th§t sñ khó thoát.
Ngß(c)i trí c¡t tr× nó,
Bö døc lÕc, không màng.
347. ensnared in passion back they fall
as spider on a self-spun web.
This passion severed, wander the wise
forsaking dukkha all.

Tñ lao mình xu¯ng dòng
Nhß nh®n sa lß¾i d®t.
Ngß(c)i trí c¡t tr× nó,
Bö m÷i kh±, không màng.
348. let go before, let go the after,
let go the middle, beyond the becoming.
With mind released in every way
you'll come no more to birth, decay.
348. Bö quá, hi®n, v¸ lai,

Ý giäi thoát t¤t cä,
Ch¾ vß¾ng tÕi sanh già.
349. for one who's crushed by thinking much
excessive lust from beauty's sight,
for that one craving grows the more,
that one makes strong the bonds.
349. Ngß(c)i tà ý nhiªp phøc,
Tham s¡c bén nhìn t¸nh,
Ngß(c)i ¤y ái tång trß·ng,
Làm giây trói mình ch£t.
350. but who delights in subduing evil thoughts,
meditates on the impurities with mindfulness,
that one indeed will make an End,
and will sever Mara's bonds.
350. ai vui, an t¸nh ý,
Quán b¤t t¸nh, thß(c)ng ni®m,
Ngß(c)i ¤y s¨ di®t ái,
C¡t ðÑt ma trói buµc.
351. one who's fearless, reached the End,
of craving and of blemish free,
who has becoming's thorn plucked out,
has this, a final body.
351. ai t¾i ðích không s(r),
Ly ái, không nhim ô
Nh± mûi tên sanh tØ,
Thân này thân cu¯i cùng.
352. one of clinging-craving free,
who's skilled in way of chanting,
knowing the wording-sequence,
of what precedes and follows,
possessed of final body,
one greatly wise, "Great Person"'s called.

353. beyond all beings, wise to all,
unsoiled by dhammas all am I,
left all and freed by craving's end,
by self I've known, whom teacher call?
353. ta hàng phøc t¤t cä,
Ta rõ biªt t¤t cä,
Không b¸ nhim pháp nào.
Ta t× bö t¤t cä
Ái di®t, tñ giäi thoát.
Ðã tñ mình th¡ng trí,
Ta g÷i ai th¥y ta?
354. gift of dhamma surpasses all gifts,
the Dhamma, its taste all other tastes beats,
delight in the dhamma bests other delights,
destruction of craving conquers all ill.
354. Pháp thí, th¡ng m÷i thí!
Pháp v¸, th¡ng m÷i v¸!
Pháp hÖ, th¡ng m÷i hÖ!
Ái di®t, th¡ng m÷i kh±!
355. riches ruin a foolish one
but not one seeking the further Shore,
craving for wealth a foolish one
is ruined as if ruining others.

Kë ngu vì tham giàu,
HÕi mình và hÕi ngß(c)i.
356. weeds are a fault of fields,
lust's a human fault,
thus offerings to the lustless
bear abundant fruit.

Tham làm hÕi ngß(c)i ð(c)i.

357. weeds are a fault of fields,
hate's a human fault,
hence offerings to the hateless
bear abundant fruit.

358. weed are the fault of fields,
delusion, human's faults,
so gifts to the undeluded
