384. when by the twofold Dhamma
a Brahmin's gone beyond
all the bonds of One-who-Knows
have wholly disappeared.

Bà la môn có trí,
M÷i kiªt sØ dÑt sÕch.
385. for whom is found no near or far,
for whom's no near and far,
free of fear and fetter-free,
that one i call a brahmin True.

Lìa kh±, không trói buµc
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
386. seated stainless, concentrated,
who's work is done, who's free of taints,
having attained the highest aim,
that one i call a brahmin True.

Ph§n sñ xong, vô l§u,
ÐÕt ðß(r)c ðích t¯i thß(r)ng,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
387. the sun is bright by day,
the moon enlights the night,
armoured shines the warrior,
contemplative the brahmin True.
But all day and night-time too
resplendent does the buddha shine.
387. M£t tr(c)i sáng ban ngày,
M£t trång sáng ban ðêm.
Khí gi¾i sáng ban ðêm.
Khí gi¾i sáng Sát lÜ,
Thi«n ð¸nh sáng PhÕm chí.
Còn hào quang ðÑc Ph§t,
Chói sáng cä ngày ðêm.
388. by barring-out badness a "brahmin" one's called
and one is a monk by conduct serene,
banishing blemishes out of oneself
therefore one's known as "one who has left home".
388.DÑt ác g÷i PhÕm chí,
T¸nh hÕnh g÷i sa môn,
Tñ mình xu¤t c¤u uª,
Nên g÷i b§c xu¤t gia.
389. one should not a brahmin beat
nor for that should he react.
Shame! who would a brahmin beat,
more shame for any should they react.

390. for brahmin no small benefit
when mind's aloof from what is dear.
As much he turns away from harm

Tâm hÕi ðß(r)c ch§n ðÑng,
Chï khi ¤y kh± di®t.
391. in whom there is no wrong-doing
by body, speech or mind,
in these three ways restrained,
that one i call a brahmin True.
391. V¾i ngß(c)i thân mi®ng ý,
Không làm các ác hÕnh
Ba nghi®p ðß(r)c phòng hµ,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
392. from whom one knows the Dhamma
by perfect buddha taught
devoutly one should honour them
as brahmin sacred fire.
392. T× ai, biªt chánh pháp
B§c Chánh Giác thuyªt giäng,
Hãy kính l v¸ ¤y,
Nhß PhÕm chí th(c) lØa.
393. by birth one is no brahmin,
by family, austerity.
In whom are truth and dhamma too
pure is he, a Brahmin's he.

Không chüng tµc, th÷ sanh,
Ai th§t chân, chánh, t¸nh,

394. Dimwit! What's the coiled hair for?
For what your cloak of skins?
Within you are acquisitive,
you decorate without!
394. Kë ngu, có ích gì
B®n tóc v¾i da dê,
Nµi tâm toàn phi«n não,
Ngoài m£t ðánh bóng suông.
395. one enduring rag-robes, lean,
with body o'erspread by veins,
lone in the woods who meditates,
that one i call a brahmin True.
395. Ngß(c)i m£c áo ð¯ng rác,
G¥y ¯m, lµ mÕch gân,
еc thân thi«n trong r×ng.

396. i call him a brahmin though
by womb-born mother's lineage,
he's just supercilious
if with sense of ownership,
owning nothing and unattached:
that one i call a brahmin True.

397. who fetters all has severed
does tremble not at all,
who's gone beyond all bond, unyoked,
that one i call a brahmin True.
397. ÐoÕn kªt các kiªt sØ,
Không còn gì lo s(r)
Không ð¡m trß¾c buµc ràng
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
398. when cutting strap and reins,
the rope and bridle too,
tipping the shaft, he's Waked,
that one i call a brahmin True.
398. Bö ðai da [4] bö cß½ng [5]
Bö dây [6], ð° s· thuµc [7]
Bö then ch¯t [8], sáng su¯t,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
399. who angerless endures abuse,
beating and imprisonment,
with patience's power, an armed might:
that one i call a brahmin True.
399. Không ác ý, nhçn ch¸u,
Phï báng, ðánh, phÕt hình,
L¤y nhçn làm quân lñc,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
400. Who's angerless and dutiful,
of virtue full and free of lust,
who's tamed, to final body come,
that one i call a brahmin True.
400. Không h§n, hªt b±n ph§n,
Trì gi¾i, không tham ái,
Nhiªp phøc, thân cu¯i cùng,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
401. like water on a lotus leaf,
or mustard seed on needle point,
whoso clings not to sensual things,
that one i call a brahmin True.
401. Nhß nß¾c trên lá sen,
Nhß hµt cäi ð¥u kim,
Ngß(c)i không nhim ái døc,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
402. whoso in this world comes to know
cessation of all sorrow,
laid down the burden, freed from bonds,
that one i call a brahmin True.
402. ai tñ trên ð(c)i này,
Giác kh±, di®t tr× kh±,
Bö gánh n£ng, giäi thoát,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
403. whose knowledge is deep, who's wise,
who's skilled in ways right and wrong,
having attained the highest aim,
that one i call a brahmin True.
403. Ngß(c)i trí tu® sâu xa,
Khéo biªt ðÕo, phi ðÕo
ChÑng ðÕt ðích vô thß(r)ng,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
404. aloof alike from laity
and those gone forth to homelessness,
who wanders with no home or wish,
that one i call a brahmin True.
404. Không liên h® cä hai,
Xu¤t gia và thª tøc,
S¯ng ðµc thân, ít døc,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
405. who blows to beings has renounced
to trembling ones, to bold,
who causes not to kill nor kills,
that one i call a brahmin True.
405. Bö trß(r)ng, ð¯i chúng sanh,
Yªu kém hay kiên cß(c)ng,
Không giªt, không bäo giªt,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
406. among the hostile, friendly,
among the violent, cool
detached amidst the passionate,
that one i call a brahmin True.
406. Thiên th¥n giæa thù ð¸ch
Ôn hòa giæa hung hång.
Không nhim giæa, nhim trß¾c,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
407. from whomever lust and hate,
conceit, contempt have dropped away,
as mustard seed from a point of a needle,
that one i call a brahmin True.
407. Ngß(c)i bö r½i tham sân,
Không mÕn không ganh t¸,
Nhß hµt cäi ð¥u kim,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
408. who utters speech instructive,
true and gentle too,
who gives offence to none,
that one i call a brahmin True.
408. Nói lên l(c)i ôn hòa,
L(r)i ích và chân th§t,
Không m¤t lòng mµt ai,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
409. who in the world will never take
what is not given, long or short,
the great or small, the fair or foul,
that one i call a brahmin True.
409. ð(c)i, v§t dài, ng¡n,
Nhö, l¾n, ð©p hay x¤u
Phàm không cho không l¤y,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
410. in whom there are no longings found
in this world or the next,
longingless and free from bonds,
that one i call brahmin True.
410. Ngß(c)i không có hy c¥u,
Ð(c)i này và ð(c)i sau,
Không hy c¥u, giäi thoát,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
411. in whom there is no dependence found,
with final knowledge freed from doubt,
who's plunged into the deathless depths,
that one i call a brahmin True.

Có trí, không nghi ho£c,

Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
412. here who's gone beyond both bonds,
to goodness and to evil too,
is sorrowless, unsullied, pure,
that one i call a brahmin True.
412. Ngß(c)i s¯ng · ð(c)i này,
Không nhim cä thi®n, ác,
Không s¥u, sÕch không bøi
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
413. Who, like the moon, unblemished, pure,
is clear and limpid, and in whom
delights in being a consumed,
that one i call a brahmin True.
413. Nhß trång sÕch không uª
Sáng trong và t¸nh l£ng,
Hæu ái ðß(r)c ðoÕn t§n,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
414.Who's passed this difficult path,
delusion's bond, the wandering-on,
who's crossed beyond, contemplative,
uncraving with no questioning doubt,
no clinging's fuel so cool become,
that one i call a brahmin true.

Nhiªp phøc luân h°i, si,

Không døc ái, không nghi,

415. who has abandoned lusting here
as homeless one renouncing all,
with lust and being quite consumed,

415. ai · ð(c)i ðoÕn døc,
Bö nhà, s¯ng xu¤t gia,
Døc hæu ðß(r)c ðoÕn t§n,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
416. who has abandoned lusting here
as homeless one renouncing all,
with lust and being quite consumed,
that one i call a brahmin True.
416. ai · ð(c)i ðoÕn ái
Bö nhà, s¯ng xu¤t gia,
Áí hæu ðß(r)c ðoÕn t§n,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
417. abandoned all human bonds
and gone beyond the bonds of gods,
unbound one is from every bond,
that one i call a brahmin True.
417. Bö trói buµc loài ngß(c)i,
Vß(r)t trói buµc cöi tr(c)i.
Giäi thoát m÷i buµc ràng,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
418. abandoned boredom and delight,
become quite cool and assetless,
a hero, All-worlds-Conqueror,
that one i call a brahmin True.
418. Bö ði«u ßa, ði«u ghét,
Mát lÕnh, di®t sanh y
B§c anh hùng chiªn th¡ng,
Nhiªp phøc m÷i thª gi¾i,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
419. who knows how clutching creatures die
to reappear in many a mode,
unclutching then, sublime, Awake,
that one i call a brahmin True.
419. ai hi¬u rõ hoàn toàn
Sanh tØ các chúng sanh,
Không nhim, khéo vß(r)t qua,
Sáng su¯t chân giác ngµ,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
420. whose destination is unknown
to humans, spirits or to gods,
pollutions stayed, an Arahant,
that one i call a brahmin True
420. V¾i ai, loài tr(c)i, ngß(c)i
Cùng v¾i Càn thát bà,
Không biªt ch² th÷ sanh
L§u t§n b§c la hán.
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
421. that one who's free of everything
that's past, that's present, yet to be,
who nothing owns, who's unattached,
that one i call a brahmin True.
421. ai quá, hi®n, v¸ lai
Không mµt s· hæu gì,
Không s· hæu không n¡m,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
422. one noble, most excellent, heroic too,
great sage and one who conquers all,
who's faultless, washed, one Awake,
that one i call a brahmin True.
422. B§c trâu chúa, thù th¡ng
B§c anh hùng, ðÕi sî,
B§c chiªn th¡ng, không nhim,
B§c t¦y sÕch, giác ngµ,
Ta g÷i Bà la môn.
423. who so does know of former lives
and sees the states of bliss and woe
and then who's reached the end of births,
a sage supreme with wisdom keen,
complete in all accomplishments,
that one i call a brahmin True.
423. ai biªt ðß(r)c ð(c)i trß¾c,
Th¤y thiên gi¾i, ð÷a xÑ,
ÐÕt ðß(r)c sanh di®t t§n
