76. should one a man of wisdom meet
who points out faults and gives reproof,
who lays a hidden treasure bare,
with such a sage should one consort.
Consorting so is one enriched
and never in decline.
76. Nªu th¤y b§c hi«n trí,
Chï l²i và khi¬n trách,
Nhß chï ch² chôn vàng,
Hãy thân c§n ngß¶i trí !
Thân c§n ngß¶i nhß v§y,
Chï t¯t h½n, không x¤u.
77. let him exhort, let him instruct,
and check one from abasement.
Dear indeed is he to the true,
not dear is he to the false.
77. Nhæng ngß¶i hay khuyên dÕy,
Ngån ngß¶i khác làm ác,
Ðßþc ngß¶i hi«n kính yêu,
B¸ ngß¶i ác không thích.
78. Don't go around with evil friends,
with rogues do not resort.
Spend your time with noble friends,
and worthy ones consort.
78. Ch¾ thân v¾i bÕn ác,
Ch¾ thân kë ti¬u nhân.
Hãy thân ngß¶i bÕn lành,
Hãy thân b§c thßþng nhân.
79. happy is he who dhamma drinks
with heart that's clear and cool.
One so wise e'er delights
in dhamma declared by the Noble.
79. Pháp hÖ ðem an lÕc,
V¾i tâm tß thu¥n t¸nh;
Ngß¶i trí thß¶ng hoan hÖ,
V¾i pháp b§c Thánh thuyªt.
80. irrigators govern waters,
fletchers fashion shafts,
as joiners shape their timber
those who are wise tame themselves.
80. Ngß¶i tr¸ thüy dçn nß¾c,
Kë làm tên n¡n tên,
Ngß¶i thþ mµc u¯n g²,
B§c trí nhiªp tñ thân.
81. just as a mighty boulder
stirs not with the wind,
so the wise are never moved
either by praise or blame.
81. Nhß ðá täng kiên c¯,
Không gió nào lay ðµng,
Cûng v§y, giæa khen chê,
Ngß¶i trí không giao ðµng.
82. even as a fathomless lake,
a lake so calm and clear,
so dhammas having heard
serene the wise become.
82. Nhß h° nß¾c sâu thÆm,
Trong sáng, không khu¤y ðøc,
Cûng v§y, nghe chánh pháp,
Ngß¶i trí hß·ng t¸nh lÕc.
83. everything the good renounce,
the peaceful chatter not of fond delights,
and whether touched by pleasure or pain
nor joy or woe in the wise is seen.
83. Ngß¶i hi«n bö t¤t cä, [1]
Ngß¶i lành không bàn døc,
D¥u cäm th÷ lÕc kh±,
B§c trí không vui bu°n.
84. neither for one's own, nor for another's sake
one should wish for children, wealth and estate,
nor success desire by means unjust,
thus virtuous, and wise, righteous one would be.
84. Không vì mình, vì ngß¶i.
Không c¥u ðßþc con cái,
Không tài sän qu¯c ðµ,
Không c¥u mình thành tñu,
V¾i vi®c làm phi pháp.
V¸ ¤y th§t trì gi¾i,
Có trí tu®, ðúng pháp.
85. among folk they are few
who go to the further Shore,
most among humanity
scurry on this hither shore.
85. Ít ngß¶i giæa nhân loÕi,
Ъn ðßþc b¶ bên kia.
Còn s¯ ngß¶i còn lÕi,
Xuôi ngßþc chÕy b¶ này.
86. but they who practise Dhamma
according to dhamma well-told,
from Death's domain hard to leave
they'll cross to the further Shore.
86. Nhæng ai hành trì pháp,
Theo chánh pháp khéo dÕy,
S¨ ðªn b¶ bên kia,
Vßþt ma lñc khó thoát.
87. abandoning the dhammas dark
the wise should cultivate the bright,
having from home to homeless gone
in solitude unsettling.
87. Kë trí bö pháp ðen,
Tu t§p theo pháp tr¡ng.
Bö nhà, s¯ng không nhà,
S¯ng vin ly khó lÕc.
88. let them desire that rare delight
renouncing pleasures, owing nought,
those wise ones should cleanse themselves
from all defilements of the mind.
88. Hãy c¥u vui Niªt Bàn,
Bö døc, không s· hæu,
Kë trí tñ rØa sÕch,
C¤u uª t× nµi tâm.
89. those who come to Wakening
with mind full-cultivated,
delight, no longer clinging,
in relinquishing attachment:
they, without pollution, radiant,
in this world have reached Nibbana.
89. Nhæng ai v¾i chánh tâm,
Khéo tu t§p giác chi,
T× bö m÷i ái nhim,
Hoan hÖ không ch¤p thü.
Không l§u ho£c, sáng chói,
S¯ng t¸ch t¸nh · ð¶i.
